The federal government is investing $65 billion across the country to augment the accessibility to broadband or high-speed internet. A significant portion of this funding will be allocated to the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment ("BEAD") Program. Approximately $42 billion will be granted to state governments, the District of Columbia, and other commonwealth territories to implement the BEAD program. According to the Biden Administration, this appropriation will be used "to expand high-speed Internet access by funding planning, infrastructure deployment, and adoption programs across the country."
